The work to be undertaken generally includes the following:

(1) A dedicated Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) space is essential to improve cardiac care at UHNBC. This project consists of a renovation to the existing Internal Medicine Unit (IMU) on the second floor of the University Hospital of Northern BC. The scope is to convert the existing IMU A-pod to a dedicated CCU. The approximate area of renovation is 2,500sqft;

(2) The scope includes demolition and new construction works associated with the conversion. 2 bed rooms, and (2) 1 bed rooms will require selective demolition in order to accommodate new power/data drops for new CCU equipment. An existing bath assist room will need to be converted to a consulting room and dictation stations. New framing, finishes, doors, and some millwork are required within the renovated area.

(3) Electrical work includes new power/data to suit new cardiac care equipment, and new light fixtures where the ceilings have been modified.

(4) Mechanical work is limited. In the two 1 bed rooms, new floor drains are required for (2) new hemodialysis units, and water hook-ups will be required for (2) new water filtration units.
